Office Connector - Query Features
Feature |
Description |
Query Tables
The Office Connector wizard makes it a snap to create Excel queries that give
you speedy access to live data. Queries can be used with parameters that give
you the ability to interact with your data in real time. The dynamic data can
be refreshed at any time, and rows are automatically added and removed to reflect
changes in your Sage Timberline Office data. Formulas and totals adjacent to the query are
automatically filled-down and recalculated when data is refreshed.

Powerful Worksheet Functions
Office Connector adds four functions that you can use in Excel much like other
Excel functions:
| Function |
Definition |
TSLOOKUP
This function works like the Lookup function used in Sage Timberline Office and can retrieve
data from any field or record in the database using the key values
TSFIND
This function is similar to the TSLOOKUP
function but does not rely on keys to identify the record you
wish to retrieve data from. Instead a filter is used which is
similar in concept to a condition in Sage Timberline Office. If
more than one record meets the filter criteria you can also identify
which record (1 to n) to retrieve. |
TSSUM
If you need to obtain the sum for a given field in the database this function
can be used to compute the sum of a specific field in a table. A filter can be
applied to limit the records that are included in the sum.
TSCOUNT
Use this function to obtain the total number of records in a table or the number
of records from a table that meet a filter condition.
Refresh
Once you have built an Excel workbook that uses Office Connector functions, you
can retrieve current data values with just a click of the refresh button.
Import
Use the import tool to quickly copy Sage Timberline Office data into worksheet. Simply
specify the type of record, the desired fields and an optional filter.
Cached Data
Office Connector increases performance by remembering function results so
they only have to be computed once. This "cached data" allows you to work
with a virtual snap-shot of your Sage Timberline Office data that does not change. You
can optionally save the cache with the workbook, which will enable you to
work disconnected from Sage Timberline Office and share license concurrencies.
