Caveats for Mapped Drives

Contents Index

It is paramount that the drive mapped to the Timberline system directory is identical on all of the machines that use Office Connector.  This is a requirement for the proper functioning of Timberline, and as a result, Office Connector.

It is critical that the drive mapped to the Timberline system directory does not change once it is established.  For example, changing the level in the directory structure for the network share from "C:\" to "C:\Program Files\Timberline Office\" will cause Timberline and Office Connector to cease to function properly.  If you do choose to modify the location of the file share, then you will need to update the registry to reflect the change.  Please contact Timberline technical support or your Timberline consultant to make sure that you perform this change correctly.

It is also a good idea to have the drive that is mapped to the Timberline data folder be identical on all machines.  If you do not do this, then your list of Timberline data folders will be duplicated for each different mapping.  Most end users will find this a confusing source of frustration.
