How do I unload and load the Office Connector add-in?

Background

This is a general-purpose article that provides steps for manually unloading and loading the Office Connector add-in. The resolution for certain technical issues require the add-in to be manually unloaded or loaded, and this action may also be prescribed by technical support staff.

The Office Connector product suite consists of three add-ins. Depending on which products you own, you might not have all three installed. The following list details each Office Connector product and its associated add-in(s).

This add-in provides all of the functionality for Office Connector Query & Write

Excel 2016 Querytable Fix:
This add-in provides a resolution to a bug which was introduced with Microsoft Excel 2016 as described in the following KB article:

This add-in provides all of the functionality for Office Connector Import

Unloading the Office Connector Add-Ins

Performing these steps will remove Office Connector from memory. While the add-in is unloaded, Office Connector worksheet functions and queries will no longer function.

Excel 2010 & Above
  1. Click the File menu (upper left).
  2. Click Options.
  3. Click Add-Ins.
  4. Select Excel Add-ins in the Manage box, and then click Go.
  5. In the Add-Ins list, uncheck the box for the Office Connector (Query & Write) and/or Office Connector Import.
    Note - If Office Connector (Query & Write) and/or Office Connector Import is not listed, please proceed to step 5 under Loading/Reloading the Office Connector Add-Ins shown below.
  6. In the Add-Ins list, uncheck the box for Excel 2016 Querytable Fix.
    Note - If Excel 2016 Querytable Fix is not listed, please proceed to step 5 under Loading/Reloading the Office Connector Add-Ins shown below.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Close all instances of Microsoft Exceland re-open the application.

Loading/Reloading the Office Connector Add-Ins

Performing these steps will load the Office Connector add-in(s), which will then allow Office Connector worksheet functions and queries to be used.

Excel 2010 & Above
  1. Click the File menu (upper left).
  2. Click Options.
  3. Click Add-Ins.
  4. Select Excel Add-ins in the Manage box, and then click Go.
  5. Confirm that Office Connector and/or Office Connector Import and Excel 2016 Querytable Fix appears in the Add-Ins list. If the add-in does not appear in the list, follow these steps to add it.
    1. Click Browse.
    2. Navigate to the folder that contains the Office Connector add-in files. Click here for help with identifying what this path is on your system.
    3. Double-click the add-in file: OfficeConnector.xla or OfficeConnectorImport.xla.
    4. Repeate step i above.
    5. Navigate to the folder that contains the Excel 2016 Querytable Fix add-in files. Click here for help with identifying what this path is on your system.
    6. Double-click the add-in file: Excel 2016 Querytable Fix.xlam.
  6. In the Add-Ins list, confirm the box is checked for Office Connector and/or Office Connector Import and Excel 2016 Querytable Fix.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Close all open instances of Excel and re-open Excel.
