2019 Aug 15 – Recent Microsoft Updates Causing Program Exceptions & Errors

Issue

Event 1 Software products and custom Excel-based solutions may cease to function entirely, or have certain functionality disabled due to a problem with specific Microsoft Windows updates that were recently released. The specific symptoms may vary but, in general, the problem will manifest itself as an unexpected error, disabled functionality, or errors recorded in the log.

List of Problem Updates

The following Microsoft updates impact the operation of any program that uses VB-Script, VBA (Visual Basic for Applications, i.e., Excel Macros), or Visual Basic 6. • Install Current Microsoft Updates
  • Microsoft has announced that they have resolved the issues caused by recent Microsoft updates, which were affecting both our software and other software which use the same Microsoft technologies. Microsoft's fixes are available as OPTIONAL Windows updates.
    
    While we have confirmed that Microsoft's fixes resolve the symptoms in our software, Microsoft reports that the fixes may introduce issues with other software or Windows features. These new issues do not impact our software but may affect other functionality in your environment.
    
    We strongly recommend having I.T. personnel thoroughly review the list of Microsoft updates available for your system and researching the changes made and potential issues for each update before installing.
• Uninstall Problem Microsoft Updates
  • Microsoft has announced that they have resolved issues affecting our software by the updates listed above. However, since updates released since the updates listed above may cause other issues with your environment, you may prefer to uninstall the updates listed above from your system. For instructions on how to remove an update, click here and then look for "How do I remove an installed update?".

To test and see if recently applied updates provided by Microsoft have resolved the issues caused by the updates listed above, please run the following included reports. If the report completes successfully, the issues cased by the updates listed above should be resolved.
