Office Connector has the ability to operate in "viewer mode" on workstations where Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate is not installed or is otherwise unreachable. Office Connector does not need to be licensed in order to operate in viewer mode, and it will not use any license concurrencies. Although you cannot refresh data or send values to Sage 300 CRE while in viewer mode, you can leverage the Save data with report option to display the data as it was last refreshed.
Viewer mode has the following uses:
- Remote Data Entry
You can e-mail workbooks to remote Office Connector users for data entry in the field. The remote users do not need access to Sage 300 CRE, and can instead work with the report using the saved data. Once the data has been entered, the remote user can e-mail the spreadsheet back to the main office where the connection to Timberline can be established and the updated values written back into Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate. - External Review
Anyone can download and install Office Connector free of charge. If you use the Save data with report option, then other users can view your Office Connector workbooks while leaving the potential to reconnect intact. Alternatively, you can use the Save As Values feature however the values-copy of the workbook would not be able to be refreshed later. - Network Reliability
Should your workstation experience connectivity issues with Sage 300 CRE, Office Connector may enter viewer mode in order to gracefully handle the disconnect.
